For all Student visa (F-1)/I-20 students

Issuing I-20:
We need all the items below for issuing your I-20:
  • Application form
  • Full tuition for your term of study and a $100 registration fee, (see Refund policy)
  • 1 copy of the picture page of your passport
  • 1 copy of a bank statement showing $10,000 (or $3000 if you are a transfer student). The statement must be less than 3 months old with the account holder’s name. An ATM receipt cannot be used. Please indicate the relationship of you and the account holder if the statement is not your own.

Transfer students: Please submit copy of I-20 from current/previous school, passport (picture page, the visa page and the I-94) and bank statement. Statement must be issued within 3 months from the date of application and ATM receipt cannot be accepted. Please indicate the relationship of you and the account holder if the statement is not your own.

Transfer students will receive their I-20 before course start date only when he/she is travelling outside of the US during the transfer period or applying from outside of the US. All other transfer students will receive their I-20 after the registration day.

Minimum Stay: Eight (8) weeks is the minimum stay at Academia for issuance of I-20.

Attendance Policy

  • F-1 Students are responsible for attending all required classes to maintain their status in the US. Student MUST ATTEND a minimum of 20 hour a week with Academia class schedule. This is based on the US Immigration requirement for the F-1 students. If a student’s absence rate exceeds 20% of a term, students will receive a warning. If a student receives 2 written notices in any two consecutive terms they will be expelled from Academia which will result in the loss of the F-1 status.
  • For all other students
    • Kama’aina students: To qualify for the Kama’aina rate, students must show a photo ID with a local address and be US citizens, green card holders, or have a K visa. Students who have cancelled their I-20 and have filed an adjustment of status also qualify.
    • Non I-20 students: Tourist visa or Visa Waiver students may not take more than 18 hours per week of class by US Immigration law. These students are allowed to take up to 15 hours of classes with Academia schedule. Other visa holder has no restriction for attendance hours. Some exceptions may apply.
