Work Experience Program (Practicum)

In this course, students get real-world experience in an English-speaking work environment. With the help of our instructors, students prepare resumes and interview for volunteer positions in the local community. Practicum students meet for two hours each week to share experiences and discuss newly-acquired insights about working in America.  Past students have found work in such places as animal shelters, plant nurseries, pet-grooming salons, and the Arthritis Foundation. 

Academia Language School’s Work Experience Program provides students with an excellent opportunity to prepare for future careers in work settings where English is spoken.  Students typically build strong relationships with the co-workers and supervisors at their host work sites.  Letters of recommendation from work supervisors provide solid evidence of a student’s ability to work in an English-speaking work setting.
